Challenges of the Creative Cycle

challenge creative cycle human human design mani manifestor manifestor masterclass rest trust

Today’s blog is about challenges in the creative cycle. I really wanted to write about this because in the HD space, we tend to place so much focus on the rest cycle

And this is somewhat justified because we spend 80% of our time in a rest cycle, and

in terms of social conditioning and the internal challenges we experience in our centres and gates, so many Mani’s emotionally and mentally struggle the most with our rest cycle because it’s so much at odds with how we have been taught to live and succeed.

But we kind of forget about the challenges of the creative cycle. We place these high expectations on the creative cycle, look back at them wistfully when we’re deep in rest, putting it on a pedestal like it's this wonderful time when everything is perfect and easy and amazing because we can initiate.

And while I do believe the creative cycle is easier than the rest cycle, I also think this is because it is more celebrated – after all, we are crazy good at the hustle and initiating and getting stuff done, and people like that.

But there are a few challenges in the creative cycle. It’s definitely not all sunshine and roses. It can also be very triggering.

For those new to this creative-rest cycle thing, here’s a brief overview:

Manifestors operate on a moving creative / rest cycle. In a creative cycle, we experience creative urges. We have all the energy we need to initiate them, our energy comes online, we inform people, everything is basically golden and rosy. And then the creative cycle starts to wane. We become bored and disconnected from the thing we initiate, and we enter our rest cycle.

The rest cycle comes in two phases:

 1. Deep rest:

this is the recovery phase of our rest cycle. Mani’s I speak to often underestimate the enormity of what we create and don’t allow ourselves this full time of rest following a big urge. We are the fireworks shooting up into the sky, shining these bright lights for everyone to see. We then need time to recover from this so we can initiate again.

2. Creating space:

In the second phase, we are allowing ourselves to be on this lower bandwidth. We’re not feeling creative, and generally function on a slightly lower capacity. Life goes a bit more slowly, because in this slowness we are creating a vacuum for the next creative cycle to come in. This phase is normally much longer than the previous phase (sometimes months or years in my experience!)

I’ve been doing this for several years, and I know I can make big quantum leaps when I follow these urges and honour the rest cycle. I also know that it can be tempting to want to be in that energy all the time, because it is fun.

But I also don’t want to gloss over the struggles we can experience in the creative cycle. Here are some of the unique challenges Manifestors can experience in the creative cycle:

 Our creative urges are unpredictable.

We don’t have a textbook roadmap to our creative urges. Just like we don’t know how long our rest cycle will be, we never know how long our creative urge will be either, or how it will hit. It could be a macro or micro urge, or a combination of both (click here to listen more about the difference between macro and micro urges).

And we can have one of two experiences:

  1.     Our creative cycle begins and we feel it afterwards; or
  2.     The creative cycle comes before the commencement of the creative urge.
  3.     They both occur at the same time

In my experience, the more aligned we become as Manifestors, the more clearly we experience the complexity of the creative cycle.

At this point, it’s important to use our inner authority to become clearer on our urges.

  •  Emotional Mani’s you’re likely to feel this as emotional turmoil, because you’re still riding that emotional wave.
  • Splenic Authorities, you’re going to have this intuitive sense something is coming but you don’t know what yet.
  • Ego Mani’s you'll have a build up of desire and want to charge forward but you’ll want to talk it out

This really presents us with the second biggest challenge: Triggering in our undefined centres.

I only have three defined energy centres – my throat, my spleen and my ego. So when I step into a creative cycle, I feel like I can talk a lot more. I feel like I can communicate and be magnetic when I speak (I bulk create talking content during this time).

My spleen brings these big intuitive hits, and has a lot of pings and is very clear. And my ego, as my only motor centre, has a large sense of willpower and desire and discipline and physical energy for my urges.

In a creative urge, you’re going to notice your defined energy centres and all of a sudden, you’ll have these physical surges of energy.  But all that physical energy can come online before the urge arrives. Which can leave us with a weird internal chaos that has us roaring to go, but with nowhere to direct this energy.

This can put us into a confused, physical state that feels a bit overwhelming. And it is this experience that triggers conditioning in our undefined centres.

This struggle is very unique to the creative cycle, so here are my tips for when you are feeling challenged in your creative cycle.

Be Patient.

I know this is very hard to do when all your energy is telling you to move forward blindly, but it’s a moment for reflection. Hone all those skills you’ve been developing during your rest cycle (to reflect, meditate, breathe) and apply them a few more times. Give yourself a couple of days.

The creative urge will come through, even if it is in bits and pieces. But you will be able to grasp the pieces and be able to see at least part of the picture.

Trust.

Trust that your energy will stay online and available exactly as it is needed, for when it comes through and the duration it is needed. This is the Achilles heel for Manifestors, because of course we don’t want to trust something we can’t see yet.

Use your inner authority

We can nail our inner authority for other things, but creative urges are a whole different beast. I talk to so many Mani’s about this, and the antidote for recognizing that this can be challenging, that we might have this chaos in our energy, is to drill down into the inner authority, and put work into trusting the guidance it is offering you. It's going to be different for each of us.

We have everything that we could ever need. This is part of the reason why you chose to be a Manifestor. You don’t need the perfect time, place or person – you are the beginning. You are the commencement. Take the imperfect action, so that there are things for people to respond to.

Your only job is to trust your creative urge. And of course, rest.

Are you in a creative cycle and feeling like you’re in a bit of a funk?
